  60. INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS

  62. The following situations could occur during the installation of the 
  63. HotOffice Starter Kit:
  64.  
  65. Q. What do I do if I get disconnected from the Internet?
  66.  
  67. A. If you are creating a new HotOffice, select the Create Your 
  68.     HotOffice icon on your desktop.
  69.  
  70.      If you are using an existing HotOffice, select the HotOffice 
  71.     Sign-On icon on your desktop.
  72.  
  73. Q. What do I do to restore my Microsoft Word 97 customized 
  74.     settings if I had HotOffice automatically correct my corrupted 
  75.     NORMAL.DOT FILE?
  76.  
  77. A. Open Word 97 (leaving the Document1 empty document 
  78.     window open) and: 
  79.  
  80.    1.  Select Tools/Templates and Add-Ins....
  81.    2.  Click Organizer... located at the bottom left-hand side of 
  82.         the dialog box. 
  83.    3.  Click Close File on the bottom left-hand side of the dialog 
  84.         box.
  85.    4.  Click Open File....
  86.    5.  Select the NORMAL.BAD.DOT file.
  87.    6.  Select all items in the NORMAL.BAD.DOT list and Click 
  88.         Copy to transfer all the files from the left-side to the 
  89.         right-side of the dialog box.
  90.    7.  Click Yes to All to the question in the dialog box.
  91.    8.  Click Close at the very bottom right-hand side of the dialog 
  92.         box.
  93.    9.  Close Word 97.

  95. Q. How do I correct my corrupted NORMAL.DOT file and recover 
  96.     my Microsoft Word 97 customizations later?
  97.  
  98. A. The easiest way to install HotOffice One-Button Publishing is 
  99.     to re-run the HotOffice Starter Kit. You can do this in one of 
  100.     two ways.  
  101.  
  102.    From Start on your desktop taskbar:
  103.  
  104.    1. Click Start. 
  105.    2. Select Programs.
  106.    3. Select HotOffice.
  107.    4. Click on HotOffice Starter Kit Upgrade.
  108.    5. Select Install HotOffice One-Button Publishing now when the 
  109.       dialog box regarding the NORMAL.DOT file appears.
  110.  
  111.    or 
  112.  
  113.    From within your HotOffice you can choose to re-install the 
  114.    HotOffice Starter Kit. Go to your Document Center and click 
  115.    on the HotOffice Starter Kit link to start this process.
  116.  
  117.    After the install, you still need to recover the customizations 
  118.    you had made to Word 97 by doing the following: 
  119.  
  120.    Open Word 97 (leaving the Document1 empty document 
  121.    window open) and:
  122.  
  123.    1.  Select Tools/Templates and Add-Ins... .
  124.    2.  Click Organizer... located at the bottom left-hand side of 
  125.         the dialog box.
  126.    3.  Click Close File on the bottom left-hand side of the dialog

  134.    9.  Click Close at the very bottom right-hand side of the dialog

  138. Q.  What do I do if I get the message, "HotOffice was not able 
  139.       to complete the install of One-Button Publishing?"
  140.  
  141. A.  Problems other than a corrupted NORMAL.DOT file have been 
  142.      encountered. You need to: 
  143.  
  144.      1.  Uninstall Microsoft Office 95/ 97 in accordance with Microsoft's 
  145.           Office 95/97 uninstall documentation. 
  146.      2.  Re-install Microsoft Office 95/ 97. 
  147.      3.  Re-run the HotOffice Starter Kit to enable HotOffice 
  148.           One-Button Publishing for Microsoft Office 95/97 applications. 
  149.  
  150.      To re-run the HotOffice Starter Kit: 
  151.  
  152.      1.  Click Start on your desktop taskbar. 
  153.      2.  Select Programs.
  154.      3.  Select HotOffice.
  155.      4.  Click on HotOffice Starter Kit Upgrade.
  156.  
  157. Q.  How do I correct the corrupted NORMAL.DOT file and install 
  158.       HotOffice One-Button Publishing for MS Word 95?
  159.  
  160. A.  The following steps need to be taken: 
  161.  
  162.      1.  Find the NORMAL.DOT file. You can use the Find Files or 
  163.           Folders feature of Windows 95. 
  164.      2.  Rename the NORMAL.DOT file to something like 
  165.           NORMAL.BAD.DOT 
  166.      3.  Open Word 95. 
  167.      4.  Close Word 95. 
  168.      5.  Re-run the HotOffice Starter Kit. 
  169.      6.  To re-run the HotOffice Starter Kit: 
  170.      7.  Click Start on your desktop taskbar. 
  171.      8.  Select Programs.
  172.      9.  Select HotOffice.
  173.     10. Click on HotOffice Starter Kit Upgrade.
  174.  
  175. Q.  Why do I have three HotOffice icons on my desktop and what 
  176.      do I do with them?
  177.  
  178. A.  The HotOffice install program places three icons on your desktop 
  179.       if you are creating a new HotOffice. Explanations for each are as 
  180.       follows: 
  181.  
  182.      1.  HotOffice Sign-On: Use this icon as your primary sign-on icon. 
  183.           After you sign-on successfully the first time, there is no reason 
  184.           to use the Create Your HotOffice icon.
  185.      2.  HotOffice Publisher: Starts the HotOffice Publishing Wizard 
  186.           and program. The program allows you to publish documents to 
  187.           your HotOffice. Be sure to read the online Quick Start User's 
  188.           Guide for more information about using this program.
  189.      3.  Create Your HotOffice:  If you are creating a new HotOffice, 
  190.           double clicking this icon brings you to the Sign Up form. Please 
  191.           complete the four-step process.
  192.  
  193.           NOTE: After a successful signup, you can remove this icon 
  194.           from your desktop. 
  195.  
  196. PRODUCT NOTES
  197.  
  198. 1.   HotOffice One-Button Publishing with Microsoft PowerPoint 95 
  199.       and 97
  200.  
  201.       NOTE: HotOffice One-Button Publishing does not create the 
  202.       HotOffice Publisher button within the PowerPoint 95 application. 
  203.      You can still publish Power Point 95 documents by 
  204.      draging-and-dropping on top of the HotOffice Publisher icon 
  205.      found on your desktop.
  206.  
  207.  
  208.       There are two known error messages that could occur when 
  209.       you try to publish to your HotOffice from the PowerPoint 97 
  210.       application. If you do not save your files before using the 
  211.       HotOffice Publishing Wizard, you will see the following error 
  212.       messages:
  213.    
  214.       A.  HotOffice cannot publish a file that has not been saved. (This 
  215.            may occur even though you selected the save feature that 
  216.            appears when you click the HotOffice Publisher button.)
  217.  
  218.       B.  There is nothing to publish.
  219.  
  220.       If you receive either of these messages: 
  221.  
  222.       A.  Save the file using the Save feature on the File menu.
  223.     
  224.       B.  Click the HotOffice Publisher (if your file is still open) and follow 
  225.            the on-screen instructions provided by the HotOffice Publishing 
  226.            Wizard. If your file is not open, use the Browse feature from 
  227.            within the HotOffice Publishing Wizard.
  228.  
  229.       IMPORTANT: To avoid these error messages, save your files before 
  230.       you publish to HotOffice. 
  231.  
  232. 2.  Upgrade from MS Word 95 to MS Word 97 and the effect on HotOffice 
  233.      One-Button Publishing
  234.  
  235.      For Windows 95 users, you may have noticed when the HotOffice 
  236.      One-Button Publishing was installed on Word 95, the button appeared 
  237.      without the HotOffice graphic logo. This did not affect the functionality of 
  238.      HotOffice One-Button Publishing. 
  239.  
  240.      When you upgraded to Word 97 and the HotOffice One-Button 
  241.      Publishing was installed, two HotOffice Publisher buttons appeared on 
  242.      the Word 97 Function bar. One of the buttons will not have the graphic 
  243.      HotOffice logo and the other button will. Only use the button that has 
  244.      the HotOffice graphic logo. 
  245.  
  246.      To remove the HotOffice Publisher button without the logo: 
  247.  
  248.      A.  Right click on the HotOffice button with no logo. A menu list is 
  249.           displayed.
  250.  
  251.      B.  Click Customize.... The Customize panel appears.
  252.  
  253.      C.  Left click on the HotOffice button with no logo, and hold.
  254.  
  255.      D.  Drag the button onto the Customize panel and release. The 
  256.           button is permanently removed.
  257.  
  258. 3.   Installing HotOffice on a Windows NT 4.0 Domain
  259.  
  260.      There are three requirements for installing and using the HotOffice 
  261.      Starter Kit software on a Windows NT computer. 
  262.  
  263.      A.  You must install the software in the NT domain in which you will 
  264.           be publishing documents and using HotOffice. This is most likely 
  265.           your network domain and not your machine's local domain. If you do 
  266.           not have permission to install software on your network domain, 
  267.           you will need to contact your NT administrator and get the proper 
  268.           permissions.
  269.  
  270.      B.  You must have your Web browser installed locally on your 
  271.           computer and not on a network directory.
  272.  
  273.      C.  When using HotOffice, you must be in the Windows NT domain on 
  274.           which HotOffice was installed.
  275.  
  276.      D.  If you configure HotOffice to start Microsoft NetMeeting at sign-on 
  277.           and NetMeeting does not run automatically, you need to start and 
  278.           configure NetMeeting manually.
  279.  
  280.           1. Start NetMeeting.
  281.           2. Click Tools, then Options. The Options window is displayed.
  282.           3. Select the My Information tab.
  283.           4. Provide the following Information:
  284.               - First Name
  285.               - Last Name
  286.               - E-mail address (NOTE: This address must match your current
  287.                 active HotOffice e-mail Accounts profile.
  288.           5. Click OK.
  289.           6. Select the Calling tab.
  290.           7. Set the Server name to ils.hotoffice.net
  291.           8. Uncheck the "Do not list my name ......" checkbox.
  292.           9. Click OK.
  293.  
  294.           When you restart your computer, NetMeeting should start 
  295.           automatically. 
  296.  
  297. 4.   Installing HotOffice on Other Networking Domains
  298.  
  299.      At this time, HotOffice only works on a Windows NT domain or a 
  300.      Windows 95 domain. Other networking domains such as Novell NetWare, 
  301.      Banyan, and so on are not supported. If you have questions contact 
  302.      your network administrator. 
  303.  
  304. 5.   Installing Netscape and Microsoft Software and the effect on HotOffice
  305.  
  306.      If you install a Netscape browser or any Microsoft Office product (Word, 
  307.      Excel, or PowerPoint) after you have installed the HotOffice Starter Kit 
  308.      software, you need to upgrade your HotOffice software: 
  309.     
  310.      A.  Click Start located on your Windows desktop taskbar.
  311.      
  312.      B.  Select Programs.
  313.  
  314.      C.  Select HotOffice.
  315.  
  316.      D.  Double click on HotOffice Starter Kit Upgrade. Follow the instructions 
  317.           for upgrading your HotOffice Starter Kit. 
  318.  
  319. 6.   Uninstalling the HotOffice Starter Kit Software and the effect on 
  320.      Microsoft Word 95
  321.  
  322.      If you have uninstalled the HotOffice Starter Kit software, the "Publish to 
  323.      your HotOffice" option will still be listed under the File menu in Microsoft 
  324.      Word 95. The HotOffice macro also remains listed on the Tools menu
  325.      under Macros. 
  326.  
  327.      To remove the "Publish to Your HotOffice" option: 
  328.  
  329.      A. Select Tools, then select Macros.
  330.  
  331.      B.  Highlight the Publisher Wizard macro and click Delete.
  332.  
  333.      C.  Close Microsoft Word 95. 
  334.  
  335.      When Microsoft Word 95 is re-opened, the "Publish to Your HotOffice" option is no
  336.      longer listed under the File menu.
  337.  
  338. 7.   Using HotOffice One-Button Publishing with Microsoft Excel 95
  339.  
  340.      In Microsoft Excel 95, the "Publish to Your HotOffice" option is missing from 
  341.      the File menu. You can still publish Microsoft Excel 95 documents by using 
  342.      the HotOffice button that appears on the application toolbar. 
  343.  
  344. 8.   Using HotOffice with AOL
  345.  
  346.      When using HotOffice E-mail, you cannot make your AOL E-mail the 
  347.      active account. This is because AOL e-mail does not conform to standard
  348.      Internet e-mail protocols.
